From sydney to melbourne!

Making the trip down to Melbourne for IEM this year? Here’s our top tips on how to get down. ESL is not affiliated with any companies mentioned in this article.

The most popular way to get down to Australia’s home of sport, flying to Melbourne is a quick trip from Sydney - which means it’s often better to bite the bullet on some Jetstar tickets and not worry about comfort for the short flight. Fancy a road trip? Driving from Sydney to Melbourne will let you take in your fair share of the Australian outback before two days inside at Rod Laver Arena this year. Plan your route on Google Maps and you’ll have no need for a navigator.

Getting to the venue once you arrive in Melbourne

There are a number of public transport options when travelling to the Melbourne Esports Open & IEM Melbourne at Melbourne Olympic Park. We recommend organizing ahead using the Public Transport Victoria Journey Planner.

Stop 7B – Garden Square Entry
Stop 7C – walk south to the MEO Main Entry (Melbourne Arena)


Alight at Richmond station for a short ten minute walk to Melbourne Arena


Bus 246 travels down Punt Road and stops at the corner of Olympic Boulevard. From there is a short ten minute walk to Melbourne Arena


The best parking for the main entry of MEO is in the Eastern Carpark. It is recommended to pre-book parking, which can be done here.
