Following our recent announcement of the ESL Pro Tour which will host the highest level of competition in the world’s largest CS:GO circuit over 20 tournaments all over the world, we’re very pleased to formally announce that we will be returning for the 8th consecutive year to the home of esports for IEM Katowice 2020! Representing the 78th stop of the Intel®
Extreme Masters on Polish soil at the legendary Spodek Arena, IEM Katowice 2020 will see 16 elite teams from all over the globe compete for $500,000 and their respective mark in the history books of Counter-Strike.
IEM Katowice 2020 will also stand proud as the first Masters Champion title within the ESL Pro Tour and also contribute as a point towards the Intel® Grand Slam (Season 3) in which boasts a total prize pool of $1,000,000 to the victors.
“Here in Katowice we do not only remember but also make esports history. This Intel® Extreme Masters will be very special in that respect,” said Michal Blicharz, Vice President of Pro Gaming at ESL. “When it first took place in 2013 it started the era of esports mega tournaments. Now, a new era starts for us with the first ever Masters Championship of the ESL Pro Tour.”
Additionally the IEM Expo, the leading esports and gaming trade show, will take place at the International Congress Center (ICC) where all IEM attendees will be welcomed to experience and immerse themselves within multiple activities ranging from technology demonstrations to gaming and much more.
