StarCraft II qualifiers for Intel Extreme Masters San Jose announced!

We are pleased to announce that the details for the StarCraft II European and Asian qualifiers are now available - read on to find out how you can get involved and get your shot at Intel Extreme Masters victory!

Europe
The European region has two fully paid slots up for grabs, with qualification being in two stages.

Stage one, which kicks off on the 18th of October, is open to everyone, with the top eight qualifying for stage two in a single elimination best of three competition.

Stage two, which commences on the 19th of October, will see the top eight from stage one and eight top players seeded in accordance with their WCS ranking compete in a double elimination best of three, all of which will be stream live on ESL TV.

Asia
Similarly to Europe, stage one for the Asian regions will see single elimination best of three matches taking place from the 19th to the 22nd of October for China, SEA, Oceania, Korea, Japan and Taiwan.

The final stage two qualifier will see 16 players fight it out in a best of three double elimination bracket, with the top two getting a paid flight to the event as well as a hotel. 

This 16 will consist of:

  • Eight players seeded from all of Asia
  • Two players qualified from China
  • Two players qualified from SEA and Oceania
  • Four players qualified from Korea, Taiwan and Japan

America
The extended American qualifier will send three players and one American Champion to San Jose, California to represent the Americas region.

The tournament format is a bit different this time around, but the same idea. It will be two stages for the United States Championship, and 2 Stages for America’s qualifier. But this time Stage 1 for America’s qualifier is 4 individual cups instead of 1.

Stage one of the USA Championship, which kicks off on the 25th of October, is open to everyone, with the top four qualifying for stage two. In stage 2, the four qualified players will face off against four WCS invitees. The best player amongst them will receive a paid flight to the event.

Stage one of the Open Qualifier, which kicks off on the 28th of October, is open to everyone, with the top two players from each of the cups (four total) qualifying for stage two. In stage 2, the eight qualified players will face off against eight invited players. The top 3 amongst them will qualify for Intel Extreme Masters San Jose and receive paid flights and hotel for the event.
